It took a long time to find this girl, but she was definitely worth the wait! I was keeping a casual eye on what was coming up for sale in the States, and when I saw Sky advertised, I knew immediately she was worth a second look. Once I found out she was in foal to King Rocky, an amazing stallion whom I had always admired, I knew she was in for a long plane ride!

It was the perfect Cinderella story, the purchase was finalized two day before EI (Equine Influenza) broke out and all importation was stopped, and due to the pregnancy we had a limited window in which she could fly, as well as a whole new battery of vaccines and injections for her to submit to. Fortunately, with much hard work on the part of the transporters, his agent in the states, and also her seller, she was fully vaccinated and boarded the plane a day before the closing date.

Finally seeing Sky in person was a very pleasant surprise. Her photos don't do her justice, she has an extraordinary presence about her, and seems so at peace with the world. Skye has proven herself to be an exceptionally kind and patient mare as well as a wonderful mother.

Sky arrived in Australia in November 2007, and in March delivered a vibrant colt name Terror's Creek Sky Rocket (Rocky). In August 2008 she took part in the Brisbane Royal Exhibition as part of the Breeds Display, and once again demonstrated her wonderful temperament by taking all the new sights and smells in her stride, including an inquisitive calf, who was sharing her wash bay and thought she looked a bit like his Mum!

Once Rocky has been weaned she will be trained under saddle and in harness, and will do some light work around my property and on a neighbour's block.

This season (2008) Sky will be bred to 'Thomas of Givendale', a 15.2 Gypsy Stallion in the UK (see Reference Stallions) . Keep checking this page for more updates on the confirmed pregnancy and any further training/photo updates of Sky herself.

Update  : 25/1/09   Sky has been bred to Thomas of Givendale (see reference stallions) and the embryo successfully transferred to a recipient mare. Camilla, the recipient, has just completed her 45 day scan, and the foal will be due in November 2009.
