Buckskin and White Filly, rising 3, to finish around 15 hands

FHF Majestic Echo

(Gecko)

FHF Majestic Echo was born in sunny California at  Feather Hill Farm www.featherhillfarm.com). She was also bred there from an amazing stallion, FHF Majestic Heritage, affectionately know as Winston, who was sired by the immortal 'His Majesty, the King'. Her dam, FHF Elora Danin, is an imported buckskin and white mare with amazing movement.

Gecko has inherited this movement, and is incredibly balanced, as well as fast. She will frequently beat my thoroughbred across the paddock when it comes to food time! Her training will begin in earnest in May, and eventually she will be trained to ride and drive. She is also learning a small repertoire of tricks, and proving quite adept. There is rarely a lag between where one session finishes and the next starts, showing an incredible intelligence and adaptability.

While this is advantageous, it's far from Gecko's most valuable aspect. Frequently when people refer to a horse as calm or She has a calmness about her and tends to evaluate things before reacting. This is easily said, and when people say a horse is 'calm' or 'bombproof' it can be accurately translated as 'lame in all four legs'. However Gecko had consistently proven she's worth her wait in gold, and I've checked, all four legs are solid. As an example of her attitude, she was in a breed display at the Brisbane Exhibition, a huge event complete with thousand's of people and fireworks. As the night's entertainment commences the majority of exhibitor's rush to the stables to ensure their particular horse won't spook too much or react too badly. Gecko and I walked to one of the streets to watch the fireworks, and she stood there at the grand old age of 2 and watched the fireworks with her head on my shoulder.

At the Abbey Medieval Fayre, where she was invited to be part of the Gypsy encampment she duly greeted her fans as they paraded by for pats and photos. She was taken out for the main parade, where she proved a hit with the children especially. So much so the short walk back to the encampment took over half an hour as she was ambushed by her fans all wanting a pat!

Gecko, apart from a few outings has been left to run with the herd and just enjoy being a horse for the last few years, but she will be coming in for training in June. She will be sent to a wonderful local trainer who will start her both under saddle and with a cart. This will hopefully provide an interesting change of pace for her, and I'm sure she'll excel at this as much as she's triumphed with the other challenges she's faced.

Gecko is the only buckskin Gypsy in Australia and will be bred to an amazing Gypsy stallion later in 2010.
